It is the studio of artists and filmmakers María Rojas Arias and Andrés Jurado, where cinema, visual arts, and theater frequently intersect. As a studio, it employs production models tailored to each project.

Our work is shaped by an intense engagement with archives and counter-archives, connected to processes of historical memory, revolution, resistance, science fiction, colonialism and anti-colonialism, class struggle, and crossroad politics.

Situated in present-day Colombia, La Vulcanizadora recognizes the cultural legacies of Africa, Asia, and other latitudes, establishing connections that extend across the Caribbean, the Amazon, and the Orinoquía. We collaborate with a diverse community—living and dead, visible and invisible—who contribute from fields such as science, biology, philosophy, education, ethology, anthropology, history, music, translation, literature, knowledge systems, flavors, experiences, and traditions, both dependent and independent, critically and provocatively engaging with production and institutional frameworks.

We maintain an intense dialogue with materialities, grounded in the craft of the artist and cinematic experimentation through film and hybrid formats, unconventional narratives, and diverse belief systems.

Laura Rojas, Ferney Iyokina, Vitilio Iyokina, and Erika Devoignes are active members and current collaborators of La Vulcanizadora.

La Vulcanizadora is inspired by workshops located in unexplored territories, dedicated to repairing and strengthening materials obtained from the sap of a tree.

This site is an archive of our current, past, and future projects.
